the life project week 5: a little bit of excitement goes a long way...

A lot of exciting things have happened this summer, and now September is here, it would be easy to quickly become nostalgic about the longer nights, the extra glasses of cider and the tan lines (sun burn marks) but really it's just the beginning...

This summer has been truly amazing, from signing autographs at Buxton Fringe, launching the heart break jukebox and learning to dance in wellies. Despite the thing that happened, and the beginning of my quarter life crisis, this, I can honestly say has been the best summer I have ever had.

And maybe it was because of the bad stuff that I have decided to embrace the exciting stuff so much, maybe a little excitement can go a long way.

Maybe there is no maybe about it.

Since the thing that happened I have been determined to make sure things go the way I want, not just so I can make the most of the good weather, but for the foreseeable future! And while September may be about becoming a grown up, being sensible doesn't mean you can't get excited.

In fact it can be quite the opposite.

Right now I am sat on a train heading to Lancaster. The place I first became independent, where I found my first real GROUP of friends, where I first fell in love, where I guess, and I'm sorry this is soppy, I first found me (I warned you it was soppy!). But this isn't a trip down memory lane. In fact I'm here on business. Arty, amazing business, but business none the less.

I'm on the precipice of Leaping Out. No, I'm not being soppy again. Leaping Out is a week long programme of events, workshops and artists making STUFF.

And I love making STUFF.

And making STUFF happens to be very important to my career! Especially as this will be making stuff with a brand new bunch of people to me. In a brand new space, in a, well a rehearsal room that I probably know like the back of my hand, as it is all taking place back at my uni.

Which is apt, because right now I feel like I'm going back to school. In a nervous, and excited, this is important kind of way.

In other words, a nerdy kind of way. I'm a nerd.

But I'm an excited nerd, and while the summer holidays are over, well a little excitement can go a long way... Especially if it means you get to do the thing you love every day and call it work.

Quarter life crisis or not, right now, I wouldn't live my life any other way x

P.S. I'm planning on being super busy this week, so if things go a little quiet that's why! But you can expect lots of theatre based posts to come, and I'll be updating on the Teacup Theatre twitter site and instagram of course!
